Art and Culture as the key drivers for the city’s development

A number of cities in the Attica region; Kaisariani, Haidari, Agioi Anargyroi and Eleusis are in the process of renovating large areas and turning them into multi-cultural spaces. Next to them, a Cypriot city, Larnaca, which bids for the title of European Capital of Culture 2030, has realized a number of regeneration projects that have created new cultural spaces in the city. In this discussion we will analyze how, through their cultural strategies, the aforementioned cities will enhance the artistic and cultural life of their cities. What are the intended uses and how will artistic and cultural content come to inhabit these spaces? What kind of art events and manifestations are foreseen to take place? And finally, in what ways will this new infrastructure enhance contemporary artistic creation and at the same time empower their local communities?
