This promenade walks on a narration that unfolds the vision, claims and protest of Eleusis’ civil society movements and activist with respect to the environmental problems of the city. It ends up at the much degraded bay of Vlycha, passing through the cement factory’s (TITAN) establishments in the coastal zone. We start from the quarry, which used to be a hill and whose present condition is the result of the quarrying activity of TITAN; Hence, we are witnessing the abuse of the landscape and the remains of the former dominant seaside hill of the city. We walk through the areas known to the locals as “shoals” and “springs”, tracing the environmental damage from the closed smelters, the dangerous and harmful shipwrecks lying in the bay and the other illegal interventions. Throughout the narrative, the route intertwines with the environmental struggles for the city’s seafront, revealing one of the greatest paradoxes of Eleusis, a coastal city with no access to the sea.
