Following the Mystery 85 CITY PATTERNS, the M2P group organises an experiential workshop that proposes a new look at patterns, their creative reuse and how tradition and memory can be an inspiration for new forms of creativity.
It introduces the process of recording and collecting materials, the result of collaboration with ten local folklore associations, and analyses the numerous patterns produced. A vibrant action is the main part of the workshop, where the participants, along with the M2P team and the fashion designer Eftychia Sarri, create their own object: a tote bag.
Each bag will be unique as different techniques of composition and decoration will be used, which the participants will get to know during the workshop.
The Mystery 85 CITY PATTERNS, an outcome of research and recording on the collective experiences and traditions of various communities with different origins in Elefsina, was presented at the opening ceremony of the European Capital of Culture in the form of an installation in the public space. The patterns, ten in number, inspired by the associations’ homelands, were printed on a natural canvas and hung on a building on the coastal route, creating a visual narrative and an open dialogue with the contemporary history of the city.
